Great Self-Care Ideas everyone should know this coming Holidays

We all tend to go all out especially during this last month of the year. With everyone’s spirits on high mode, Christmas carols singing, decorations making everywhere pretty even without snow, who wouldn’t?! The last month of the year is truly special to each and every one, no matter what age you are in.

For children, it would be the gifts that excite them, for mid-aged ones, it would be the unending parties, and for parents and everyone who’s been working their ass whole-year, it’s the Christmas bonus! With all these, we all tend to get too carried away. Mostly, it’s either splurging way too much on our pockets, for others eating way too much and for others, it may be both.

Let this year be the start of maintaining that discipline. It’s time to stop getting over-excited and forget what you’ve worked hard over the past 11 months. Spend this Holiday season without regretting any actions we do during this last month of the year.

Here’s some tips to make sure you enjoy without getting overboard than what you should have:

Staying Healthy

I totally understand this dilemma. We’ve been associating food with any celebration we celebrate. This is when we tend to forget all that diet or specifically time that cheat-day we’ve been waiting for. With or without the Pandemic, we all still make sure to celebrate this Holidays particularly Christmas in a joyous way with food.

While calorie counting may not be the best move to do, wouldn’t it be easier to associate the colourful Holidays with your plate? By making sure you incorporate fruits, vegetables, and healthy ingredients in your Holiday meals, you’ll be sure that though the calories you intake maybe more than your usual but still in a controlled way instead of getting all out.

Being happy with food isn’t always about the quantity we get to eat but how much we savour and enjoy them in every bite. Eating doesn’t only mean loving the smell, texture and taste of it but knowing that once it enters your body, your body will really benefit from it.

And last but not the least, remembering that there’s always tomorrow to enjoy more eating will help you eat in the right proportion instead of over-eating in just one day.

Tracking our Spendings

Another important thing most of us gets carried away during this last month of the year is the way we spend. Don’t let splurging too much make its way and leave you making a deep hole in your pockets. While money is something I don’t promote in this blog as a driving force for people, I do acknowledge its importance in our life.

Having money is great and important but we shouldn’t let it rule over our lives to the point where our good intentions be turned the wrong way. This season of giving, make sure to give only up to the best of your ability. Spending way too much than you can afford just so you can give is being boastful already and not in anyway good.

It is always the thought that counts and simple, thoughtful, and consciously-thought gifts makes it more worth than giving extravagant ones that only symbolises monetary value but misses the real value of why you gave it.

Getting enough Rest

No matter what age you’re in, Self-Care is a must. As our society slowly comes back to life and get togethers that has been missed out the past years has come back as well, let’s remember to party in moderation.

I get it, you’ve missed each other’s company. And yes, talking face-to-face can never be replaced with day-to-day virtually talking to each other. Yet, planning to make sure your body also gets the rest it needs is a must.

Don’t let your body get overwhelmed and burnt-out just so you could show yourself in parties. Get togethers means enjoying the moment and not coming there half hearted because all you can think of is getting back home and dozing off.

Make sure to plan your gatherings and get that ample rest your body needs.

Happiness from Within

With all these joyous celebrations, it is easy to forget the true meaning of why we celebrate Christmas in the first place. For others, it may simply be a long holiday, but for like us, Christians’s, it is the day that marks the birth of Jesus, the Son of God, our Saviour.

That alone should be celebrated without the need of any glitz and glamour that we have been used to. This should be enough to give us peace we needed in our life, and the happiness from within that our Great Saviour has been born.
